This week as I reflect back over the end of the book of I John, I am more thankful than ever that John used the word KNOW repeatedly. I am grateful to KNOW that the life of the Son of God is in us, to KNOW that we are in him, and to KNOW that HE is able to keep us from the evil one and to protect us from sin’s destructive power!
Yesterday I was richly blessed by Jesus’ words in John 17. At the end of his High Priestly prayer, he prayed for those who will believe in him through the message of his disciples. I want to highlight just a few of the words of that prayer for us to meditate on today.
Vs. 21 “ … that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be IN US, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
I was most deeply drawn to vs. 24. As Jesus prays to his Father, he expresses what He deeply desires for us, and for himself! “ Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world”
As I read these words, the Holy Spirit awakens a longing for more of what Jesus also longs for, to be with him and to see his glory, not only at some future time, but right now! I know that the fulness of his glory will be amazing when we see his face and live with him in a world that is completely holy and perfect. But I believe his prayer was for us to be with him often while still here on earth, to be aware of him and long for his presence and his glory, to long for the same things he longs for.
I encourage you as you read this to take a moment to withdraw to a quiet place where you can be aware of him and behold his glory. That daily connection with Jesus keeps our spirits renewed and our hearts purified.
I love your family and pray his blessing and glory abide in you today!
